PAGB Event Rule Changes

The PAGB Executive has reviewed and agreed changes to the General Conditions for all events, the Monochrome definition and the Nature definition have changed and new rules have been introduced for ‘out of area’ members.

The rules for each event and the guidance on image repetition have been updated to match the changes. The object is to make compliance by entrant federations and clubs and photographers easier to understand, and so reduce problems arising between entrants and event organisers.

See the individual documents via the competitions page or by viewing them in the links below.

General Conditions (for all events)

PAGB (FIAP) Monochrome Definition (for some events).

PAGB Nature Definition (for some events).

Guidance about Image Repetition in Events (for all events).

There are also new rules for ‘Out of Area Photographers‘. For the PAGB Events with Club Entrants (Print Championship, Projected Digital Images Championship, GB Trophies, GB Cups), a Club may not enter the work of more than one Photographer who resides more than thirty miles outside the boundaries of the Club’s Federation. See the ‘General Conditions’ here.

Welsh photographers have achieved good results in the New Year Circuit in Serbia. PSA Member Neville Thomas had 16 acceptances and won a Bronze Medal and an HM. Ian Ledgard had 7 acceptances and was also awarded an HM.

Three other Welsh based photographers also had successes and might perhaps consider seeking PSA recognition of their achievements John Bell and Matthew Jones both collected 16 acceptances and Anthony Baggett 8. How about it folks?

2020 Memorial Trophy Results

Hi Folks,

About 60 people turned up to see this event at Bridgend Camera Club and I’m sure that they all enjoyed the day – I guess the winners enjoyed it the most though! I want to express my thanks to Bridgend for hosting the event and looking after us all so well, shame it was such a sunny day – unusual in that part of Wales! ;>))

Sad News – Terry O’Connell

Many of you will have known Terry O’Connell who was a regular presenter on the camera club circuit with his long time friend and AV partner David Harris. Together with David, Terry presented his AV shows in his own style for nearly 40 years. On 22nd November, 2019 Terry passed away peacefully with his family around him. He was 96 years old.

I first saw Terry and David in the early 1980s giving a show at Gwynfa Camera Club, the first time I had ever seen AV and it was that show that started my interest in AV. He and his wife Mary were loyal supporters of the South Wales RPS AV Group. Terry and his sometimes quirky AVs will be sadly missed. The funeral is on 12th December at 1:15 pm at Thornhill Crematorium.

Janet Elizabeth Cawley (1949-2019)

We have received this very sad news from Ed Cloutman.

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that my partner and best friend of over thirty years passed away peacefully today on 11th November 2019 – Armistice Day. How appropriate that it happened today, close to 11am, a day that meant so much to Jan as every year while she was president of the St Athan WI she would stand at the war memorial in the village while the service took place for all those brave men and women. When she could no longer stand for the service she would listen to it on the television.
