Congratulations to ISO and Gwynfa who took part last weekend in the National Print Championships at Blackburn. Only 37 clubs from the whole of the UK qualified. ISO took part for the very first time. Gwynfa haven’t taken part for a number of years. Continue reading PAGB National Print Championships at Blackburn – Results Many congratulations to Mike Bray of Port Talbot CC a new PSA member who had a very successful report from the Taj Mahal Circuit in India, where he collected 26 acceptances along the a Gold, silver and Bronze medals. A great result which I hope might encourage others to submit their work into PSA recognised salons. Ian Ledgard, GMPSA, PSA Membership Director Wales & PSA Liasion Officer Wales The National Museum of Wales Photography Season presents work by four of the most influential artists/photographers in the history of the medium: August Sander, Bernd and Hilla Becher and Martin Parr. The exhibitions predominantly comprise loaned photographs, a number of which have never been exhibited before, and all of which will be displayed for the first time in Wales. Full details here. Hearty congratulations to Gary Shinner on his success in the recent PCA Circuit – 21 acceptances, 3 Gold Medals and 2 diplomas. Gary is certainly setting the pace with an excellent result. Ian Ledgard, GMPSA Congratulations are in order for Colin Price of New Quay Camera Club who has recently been awarded PPSA in recognition of his proficiency in International Exhibitions with Prints and Digital Images. This award requires at least 288 acceptances. Well done Colin. There are many more photographers in Wales who enjoy success in PSA recognised exhibitions who I know could also gain awards with works already accepted. Cardiff Camera Club member Tony Charles has one of his fine art black & white images of influential Welsh musician, poet and television producer Geraint Jarman selected for inclusion in a major new exhibition RECORD: Folk, Protest & Pop at the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth. The iconic image was shot by Tony last year as part of a project shooting pioneers of Welsh pop dating from the 1960s. All the results from the Inter-Club PDI Championships at Warwick can be seen in this edition of PAGB e-News. The WPF Clubs taking part were Inn Focus, Tenby and Gwynfa. The ISO Group won the 2019 Ace of Prints competition. Gwynfa were second and Tenby third. More information when we have it. The WPF finished fairly low down in the order but WPF club members we did achieve some individual successes. The overall results can be seen here. Further details will be circulated in due course. Here are the Awards and Acceptances from the 2019 Welsh salon of Photography. This from Roger Daniel at Bridgend & District Camera Club:- Last night Bridgend & District Camera Club, held it’s annual 5 to 8 International Photo Harmony Competition expertly judged by Joan Ryder Rathband, FRPS,FPSSA, AFIAP, DPAGB and Clive Rathband, FRPS,FPSSA,EFIAP, DPAGB. The competition attracted entries from all over the world with the top three places going to: 1st – Ian Bateman (this is the 3rd time in a row that Ian has won) with his entry – Cathedral 2nd – Jane & Stephen Lee with their entry – Yellowstone Winter 3rd – Lisa Buckalders with her entry – Visions of Africa Well done to all who entered. Congratulations to Inn Focus Group (11th), Afan Nedd CC and Western Valley CC for being in the Top 50 of the GB Cup (Open). Nick Walton of Inn Focus Group took the award for Best Dark Humour. In the GB Cup (Small Clubs) Bridgend & District CC, Rhondda CC and Carmarthen CC featured in the Top 50. Congratulations to everyone. |
