Memorial Trophy 2010 at Crai

The Cloakroom that time forgot - The Vale

Hosted by Crai Camera Club at their very pleasant club room in the Maesycar Community Centre, Sennybridge, this annual competition for four prints by four different club members really was a battle. Judge Terrick Meakin narrowly selected THE VALE entries as the winners with three clubs tying for second place and just one point behind. These were SWANSEA, WESTERN VALLEY, (good to see them back in contention again) and INN FOCUS. Yes, it’s INN with a double N, how else would you spell it when they meet in a pub! They are a brand new club in the Federation and obviously mean to make their mark.

Terrick Meakin is always very welcome at WPF events and he commented that the standard of the prints was ‘very, very high’. He selected Jan Cawley’s The Cloakroom that time forgot as his BEST PICTURE. Well done, Jan. What a good start to the New Year. Hope this bodes well for an excellent Salon entry.

Crai Camera Club under the supervision of Chairman Jane Joseph, did everyone proud with their first hosting of a federation event and President Jennifer Cox praised them all for their organisation. The afternoon was further enhanced by an image of each print being projected as it was assessed. Thanks go to Roy Thomas for organising this. It was certainly very much appreciated by people seated near the rear of the hall.

Just seventeen clubs entered the competition this year which was a little disappointing but understandable considering the general weather closing down club evenings and making delivery of prints to Sennybridge difficult. Thanks need to go to Jen Cox who delivered several clubs entries at the third attempt, battling through the snow.

Next year , Tenby Camera Club have volunteered to act as hosts and we all look forward to another excellent afternoon of super prints.
