Results of Pixels 2018 – Tenby Win

Pixels 2018, the 14th running of the competition, took place at Talbot Green Community Centre on Saturday 3rd November and was a very well attended and enjoyable competition.

It was a particularly good day for Tenby Camera Club who, with 77 points from a possible 80, were clear winners and became the first club to win the competition three times. They finished four points ahead of Afan Nedd (73 points).  Inn Focus were third on 72 points. Top North Wales club were Deeside who finished fourth, tied with Gwynfa on 70 points.

The Tenby photos were: ‘Go’ by Mike Cullis (19), ‘Loving Life’ by Al Rees (20), ‘Water Rail at Sunrise’ by Charlie Kidd (18) and ‘Newly Emerged Four Spot Chaser’ by Gary Jenkins (20). Click here to see them.

The judges were Phil Charnock (FRPS MFIAP) and Gwen Charnock (FRPS MFIAP) who kept the audience entertained with their inciteful critique, humourous comments and a little bit of marital bickering. They made the job of judging 164 images look easy and their entertaining approach meant that time flew.

Gwen & Phil selected The Space Between Usby Dan Muckle-Jones of Ruthin Camera Club as Best Monochrome Photograph and ‘Wild Fox cubs, Early Eveningby Jenny Hibbert of Bridgend & District Camera Club as Best Colour Photograph. Gwynfa Camera Club wishes to thank everyone who attended the competition (over 140 people) and all 41 clubs that entered. Without you, this event would not be possible.

We’d also like to thank very much indeed everyone who supported the event by buying raffle tickets as this is a significant part of helping us to finance the event. Huge thanks to all those who donated such amazing raffle prizes especially Fotospeed, Permajet and Carmarthen Cameras. Also special thanks to Crystal Vision Locks and Trophies for providing the Pixels Trophies and to Fun Fillings & Valley Catering for providing such a tasty (and plentiful) buffet.

We also wish to thank everyone from Gwynfa who helped to organise and run Pixels 2018. It was a real team effort.

A slideshow of all the photographs entered can be seen on the Gwynfa home page.
