Memorial Trophy 2011 – Full Report

For the first time, Tenby Camera Club was delighted to host the Welsh Photgraphic Federation’s Memorial Trophy, at the Regency Hall in Saundersfoot. This WPF Photographic Competition, between 18 different Welsh Camera Clubs, was judged by Roger Parry ARPS, Hon. PAGB, AFIAP. He had travelled down from Birmingham for the day, to carry out the judging. Club members from clubs all over South Wales, over 100 in total, gathered in Saundersfoot, and each club entered 4 Prints in the competition. Clubs from as far apart as Llanelli, Crosskeys (Western Valley), Cardiff and Ebbw Vale took part.

After a very exciting and close running score, the results emerged: 3rd, Gwynfa Camera Club, with 67 points, 2nd, Ebbw Vale Camera Club, with 68 points, and joint 1st, Western Valley Camera Club, and Tenby Camera Club, both with 69 points. The prints from Tenby were Red Squirrel by Andrew Baxter, Pisces, by Jill Baxter, Love in Venice by Gill Mackay, and Sand Dunes by Mike Cullis. Western Valley`s prints were Valencia, City of arts and Science, Dear Mum, Still there, and Red sails in the Sunset. There was just one 20 awarded to John Cooke of Western Valley Camera Club for his print Dear Mum. Photographs of the winning images will be on the WPF website soon.

Tenby Camera Club thanks the many people who helped stage the event; club members, Susan Barnes who arranged our lovely flowers on the stand, and to those who provided Raffle Prizes, from Penally Abbey, a candlelit dinner for two with wine, also Celtic Vision of Narbeth and Kadinsky Art Frames and Mounts.

Thanks to Roz Oak, r9zzi@yahoo.co.uk (Press Secretary, Tenby & Distict Camera Club) for this information.
