2019 Ace of Clubs Results

It was an enjoyable day at Talbot Green and I would like to thank all 9 Clubs that took part, the 3 Judges Roger and Judith Parry of the MCPF together with Eddy Lane of the WCPF.

I also need to thank those members of the WPF Executive that were there and carried out all the work – including the mundane furniture movement etc.

My congratulations go to Inn Focus who won overall – but as they had already qualified for this year’s PAGB Inter Club PDI Warwick Event we must also congratulate Gwynfa and Tenby who came second and third and as such they too have been invited to represent the WPF on the 13th July.

So again we will have 3 Clubs from the WPF – my best wishes go to all of them for this success and for good fortune in July.

Now that we are back to having a simple PDI Ace and a separate Print Ace in July (As required by the 2018 AGM) it would be nice to see more Clubs enjoy the challenge next year!

Dewi in ‘Mastering Film Photography’ book

Last autumn Dewi Jones of Neath & District Photographic Society was approached by a gentleman named Chris Gatcum, a writer of books on photography. Chris had admired the quality of pictures Dewi was producing from an Agfa Clack camera on his Flickr website and asked whether he could have four pictures for inclusion on a book to be published by Ammonite Press. After a few checks allayed any suspicions, Dewi duly sent the pictures and vowed to keep silent until the book was published.

This Monday the book entitled ‘Mastering Film Photography’ duly arrived. It features work from six photographers with two pages each in a book of 176 pages.

Dewi will be giving a talk with print illustrations at the Neath clubhouse on Tuesday, May 28 at the usual 19.30.

If you want to take a look Dewi’s Flickr account can be seen ‘here’.

Congratulations Dewi.
