Studies in Blue Exhibition in Pontypool

studies in blue” is a solo exhibition featuring Fuji Instant and 35mm film photographs by Berlin-based artist Marit Beer.

Marit Beer is an analogue photographer whose contemplative and symbolic work focuses on the hidden stories in people and landscapes. Nature and the freedom that it offers are a powerful influence in her work; as Marit says “I long for the wilderness of nature, which cannot be restrained, which simply is and is allowed to be”. In her portraiture, Marit tries to capture what hopes and dreams we bury beneath social roles and conventions.

“studies in blue” is the second show in a series of 9 exhibitions organised by the *kickplate* project in our temporary gallery space, 76m2, between February and December 2017, thanks to grants from the Arts Council of Wales, Torfaen Council’s Arts Development and Pontypool Community Council.

Marit Beer lives and works in Berlin. She graduated in archaeology and art.  You can find her work on Instagram: @maritbeer and her page: www.maritbeer.de
