The WPF Lampeter Convention

Every year the Welsh Photographic Federation organises a convention in Lampeter College. This year, the convention takes place on the weekend of 31st August/1st September and should not be missed.

It takes the form of a series of lectures/talks etc throughout the day. It starts on Saturday morning at about 8.45 and finishes at around 5pm on the Sunday afternoon.

Most members arrive on the Friday evening but some drive up on the Saturday morning. All weekend meals are provided as is accommodation in the student halls. It is not the height of five star luxury but all rooms are very comfortable and have their own bathrooms, and all towels and linen are provided.

This year we have an amazing selection of speakers;

  • Irene Froy who is well known for her landscapes and white layer images
  • Tony Worobiac who produces excellent monochrome
  • Mike Deverell – Natural History
  • Christine Widdall who will photograph anything!
  • Andy Small who works for the RHS and photographs plants, flowers and landscapes.
  • Ben Birchall who is a press photographer and has been embedded with the troops in Afghanistan.

This would be a great learning opportunity for  members to see some excellent, top quality work and to be able to speak to these presenters and ask any questions. There is something for everyone here. There will also be some trade stands available to buy equipment, books and photographic paper at bargain prices.

It is a great chance to make new friends and to relax and enjoy quality time with fellow club members.
The evening are always great fun and much wine can be quaffed!  There is a grand dinner on the Saturday evening and a prize is awarded for the best print chosen from the competition.

The weekend costs just £125 but will be reduced to £110 if booked before 31st July. There is also £2 discount on the daily rate (making it £33) if booked before 31st July 2013.

This covers all accommodation and meals during the weekend.

Those who wish to arrive on the Friday evening are offered Bed & Breakfast at the bargain cost of £32 per person. On the Friday evening we all eat in a local hotel and get to know everyone including the speakers.

So you can all enjoy this marvellous opportunity for only £110 or £142 for the Friday as well. You would normally pay at least £50 for a talk by just one of these quality speakers, and on this weekend you will get SIX plus all your bed & board costs!

Anyone interested just let me know.

See you there?
