Welsh Salon Exhibition & Opening

The 2018 Welsh Salon Exhibition official opening day will be the 16th June at 2.00 pm in the Volcano Theatre, High Street, Swansea.

The Salon Exhibition will be open from the Tuesday 5th June until Friday 29th June.

Roy’s Exhibition

Roy Carr is holding an exhibition ‘A Year In Their Lives’ at the Cynon Valley Museum, Aberdare from 15th June until 14th July (The Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. until 4p.m.).

Roy will be giving ‘walk through talks’ at 2p.m on each of the Saturdays that the exhibition is open, telling the tales behind the photographs on display.  The majority of the work on show is from his documentary project, ‘A Year In Their Lives’ which depicts the key events in the sheep farming year, featuring three farms in the Cynon Valley, so there is a strong local connection to the exhibition. He will also have a number of landscapes on display.

Graham Jones

Sad news from Des Daughton at Trostre CC..

It is with sadness and deep regret that I have to inform you of the death of our dear friend Graham Jones, Upper Tumble.

In his time a staunch member of the Trostre Camera Club who will be greatly missed not only for his photography but for his slant on different matters, his great advice and also for his wry sense of humour.

May he rest in peace.

Salon Results Posted

Hi All

At last 2018 Welsh Salon results are out and all entrants should have received an email of their results. Apologies that due to a short spell in hospital they were delayed

Congratulations to all who had acceptances and awards. This year the standard was very high with many PDIs and prints scoring 12 or over. In most internationals 12 is enough for an acceptance, and sometimes 11 is the bench mark. In our salon all the PDIs that scored 12 and over were accepted. However, with the prints we had to have an in–out with those scoring 12 or we would have ended up with more than the number it is possible to exhibit (a maximum of 150 prints).

On the day I commented that it was a shame that some of those 12s that didn’t get selected were unlucky as some of them were really good. I was immediately corrected by the judging panel who said ALL those scoring 12 (whether accepted or not) were really good.

The salon exhibition will be held this year in the Volcano Theatre, High Street, Swansea in June. We’ll announce full details and the official opening date later.

It was a great weekend and I would like to thank all who helped out to make it so.

Again sorry for the unavoidable delay.
